HIGH-SPEED RAIL
Editor -- I loved the Sept. 24 article on Amtrak and rail service as a realistic alternative to airlines on short and medium trips. A better, more investigative look would've revealed the way that the airline and trucking industries have operated out of the U.S. Capitol, writing laws that read like obituaries to rail travel.
With our highways in gridlock and our airports at and above capacity, it is strikingly obvious to the neutral observer that we will get more transportation bang for our buck by investing in high-speed rail than by building yet wider roads and more airports.
